The short version: HexAtlas is free to use with optional paid features via Patreon (with a 7-day free trial). Your creations are yours. Don't abuse the service. We're not liable if something breaks.
HexAtlas is a browser-based hex map editor for tabletop RPGs. By using HexAtlas, you agree to these terms. The core map editor is free to use. Premium features are available through a paid Early Adopter subscription on Patreon.
You may create an account using email and password or by signing in with Google. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
HexAtlas offers a free tier that includes the core hex map editor with local browser storage. Premium features — including cloud saves, custom terrains, and early access to new tools — are available through a paid Patreon subscription at $5/month.
New subscribers can try premium features free for 7 days through Patreon's free trial. If you cancel before the trial ends, you won't be charged. After the trial, Patreon will bill you monthly unless you cancel. Cancellation and billing are managed through Patreon; please refer to Patreon's terms for details.
We may change which features are free or paid, adjust pricing, or modify the free trial as the product evolves. We'll do our best to give advance notice for significant changes.
You own what you create. Any maps, tokens, landmarks, notes, or other content you create in HexAtlas belongs to you. You may use your content however you like, including for commercial purposes in your own products or campaigns.
By using cloud storage, you grant us a limited license to store, transmit, and display your content back to you as part of the service. We will not share, sell, or publicly display your content.
Free users: your map data is stored locally in your browser (IndexedDB). Clearing your browser data or switching devices will remove it. We recommend regularly exporting your maps as backup.
Paid users: your maps may be stored in the cloud via our hosting provider (Supabase). Cloud-stored data is associated with your account and accessible across devices. We are not responsible for data loss due to service disruptions, account deletion, or third-party provider issues.

HexAtlas is in active development. This means features may change, break, or be removed; the service may have bugs or downtime; and we're continuously iterating based on feedback. Early Adopter supporters on Patreon get first access to new features as they ship.

We are not responsible for third-party service availability, terms changes, or data handling.
HexAtlas, including its code, design, and branding, is owned by The Nerdy Gentleman. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute the application without permission.
HexAtlas is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do our best to keep things working, but we cannot guarantee the service will be error-free, secure, or available at all times.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Nerdy Gentleman is not liable for any damages arising from your use of HexAtlas, including lost data, lost profits, or any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
We may update these terms as the product evolves. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes.
