HexAtlas is a browser-based hex map editor for tabletop RPGs. By using HexAtlas, you agree to these terms. The core map editor is free to use. HexAtlas Pro adds paid features. The product is by The NerdyGentleman.
You may create an account using email and password or by signing in with Google. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
HexAtlas offers a free tier that includes the core hex map editor with local browser storage. HexAtlas Pro includes cloud saves, custom terrain, and other features listed on the plans page. HexAtlas Pro is $5/month USD through Patreon. Qualifying Patreon memberships unlock Pro.
Memberships renew until cancelled. Review the final total, taxes, renewal date, and any eligible trial on Patreon before paying. Manage cancellation on Patreon; linking or unlinking accounts does not cancel a membership. The Gentleman’s Lounge is a Patreon community option, not a promise of access to every future NerdyGentleman product. For billing errors or refund requests, contact support; any rights required by applicable law remain unaffected.
We may change which features are free or paid, adjust pricing, or modify the free trial as the product evolves. We'll do our best to give advance notice for significant changes.
Your original map data, writing, and uploaded work remain yours. Third-party artwork, tokens, fonts, and content packs remain subject to their creators’ licenses. Purchasing HexAtlas Pro does not transfer ownership of that artwork or automatically grant commercial publishing or asset-redistribution rights. See Art & credits and the applicable pack license before distributing content.
By using cloud storage, you grant us a limited license to store, transmit, and display your content to provide the service, including sharing you request. Publishing a cloud share exposes the underlying map data publicly by link. Player-view filtering and fog are display controls, not protection for private notes or unrevealed content. Share a separate copy with private content removed.
Free users: your map data is stored locally in your browser (IndexedDB). Clearing browser data can remove local work. Switching devices does not transfer the local copy; it stays in the original browser. We recommend regularly exporting your maps as backup.
Paid users: your maps may be stored in the cloud via our hosting provider (Supabase). Cloud-stored data is associated with your account and accessible across devices. We are not responsible for data loss due to service disruptions, account deletion, or third-party provider issues.

HexAtlas is in active development. This means features may change, break, or be removed; the service may have bugs or downtime; and we're continuously iterating based on feedback. The development notes distinguish current work from launch preparation.

We are not responsible for third-party service availability, terms changes, or data handling.
HexAtlas’s original code, design, and branding are owned by The NerdyGentleman. Third-party components and assets remain the property of their respective creators and retain their own licenses. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute the application without permission.
HexAtlas is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do our best to keep things working, but we cannot guarantee the service will be error-free, secure, or available at all times.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, The NerdyGentleman is not liable for any damages arising from your use of HexAtlas, including lost data, lost profits, or any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
We may update these terms as the product evolves. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes.
